Police have apprehended a 14-year-old Waimakariri youth following vandalism and damage reported at the Taggart Earthmoving site in Ravenswood, North Canterbury in November last year.

He has been referred to Waimakariri Police Youth Aid Section.

This is a positive outcome and is a result of many hours of work and numerous enquiries by North Canterbury Police.

Youth offending is an issue that Police are working with other agencies to address.

Work will continue outside of the court process, along with our partner agencies, looking to provide wider support to these offenders and their families with the aim of preventing re-offending.

The message to anyone who sees suspicious activity is to call 111 if it is happening now, or 105 if it’s after the fact.
