Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on State Highway 4, Manunui, that occurred about 11.20am.
Sadly, one person has died at the scene.
At this stage one lane is open.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
