Quick action from our Auckland City West Public Safety Teams has seen four people taken into custody in relation to a burglary in Point Chevalier on Tuesday morning.

Around 4.30am, Police responded to reports of four people allegedly breaking into a commercial address on Point Chevalier Road.

It’s understood they have taken some items from the address before leaving the area in a vehicle.

This was located abandoned nearby on Huia Road.

Those involved have again fled the area in a second vehicle, which was located by Police abandoned on Savoy Road, Glen Eden.

Four people were subsequently located a short distance away and arrested.

Police have since recovered some of those items believed to be taken and have returned them to the owner.

Auckland City West Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Wayne Kitcher, says we hope this arrest brings some reassurance to our community and is a reminder that Police are determined to locate those responsible for these brazen activities and hold them to account.

One 18-year-old male is due to appear in the Auckland District Court in the coming days, and three people have been referred to Youth Aid.

As the matter is before the Court, Police are limited in further comment,

ENDS.
