Update – Body recovered in search for missing swimmer in Glenorchy

The man missing in the water at Glenorchy has been located deceased by the Police National Dive Squad.

The Dive Squad recovered the body this afternoon at about 3.50pm.

The man, a visitor from Australia, was helping a child in the water when he got into trouble himself.

This comes just a week after another person died in similar circumstances in Lake Wakatipu.

Police’s thoughts are with the man’s whanau and loved ones at this difficult time.

The man’s death will be referred to the Coroner.
