One person has died following the single-vehicle crash on SH33, Paengaroa, earlier this morning.
Another person has reportedly been seriously injured.
The road is expected to remain closed for some time, and there are no available diversions in the immediate area.
Police continue to advise motorists to avoid the area and delay travel if possible.
