The Employability and Career Services Team at the awards

AUT Employability and Career Services has taken top honours in the NZ Association of Graduate Employers (NZAGE) Awards, winning the NZAGE Best Careers Service for 2022.

The award is presented to the best university careers service as rated by member employers in the NZAGE 2022 survey.

AUT also stood out in the Best Career Services Professional category with two finalists – AUT Employability Relationship Manager, Rachael Marsters, and AUT Business, Economics & Law Partnership Director, Melanie Barr.

It is a significant industry acknowledgement of the work done at AUT to engage with industry, opening up networks and opportunities to students and graduates.

Winning the NZAGE Award recognises several years of building up industry relationships and networks that are beneficial to our AUT students, says AUT Director of Student Employability, Anna Williams.

“We thought working through Covid-19 was challenging, but through 2022 the team has worked even harder, encouraging and accommodating student needs and enticing industry back on campus in a number of innovative ways.

“Our employability relationship managers have been incredibly successful in creating a large number of informative and engaging events for our students. Our student facing team (the employability lab team) have been passionate about helping students develop strong skills in employability and our recruitment service, AUT talenthub, has placed over 100 AUT graduates in industry roles during 2022.

“A special mention to our employability relationship manager, Rachael Marsters, who was a finalist in the Best Career Services Professional category, and congratulations to our AUT colleague, Melanie Barr who won this category.”

Sponsored by Talent Solutions, the NZAGE industry awards recognise and celebrate NZAGE members who are leaders in graduate and youth recruitment.

NZAGE is the industry body educating and supporting organisations that recruit or develop New Zealand graduates (including interns, scholarships and cadets). NZAGE is supported by a broad range of organisations, including large and small employers across many industries in both the private and public sectors.
