State Highway 1 has reopened following a closure earlier today caused by protest action.
The highway’s southbound lanes were initially closed between Johnsonville and Newlands at 9.30 am.
This was followed by a full closure at approximately 10.30 am to allow Police to remove the protestors.
The road was fully reopened to all traffic just after 11.15 am. Some delays are likely as traffic congestion eases.
Waka Kotahi wants to thank road users for their patience and cooperation during today’s incident.
