Mt Victoria Tunnel lanes, east and west-bound, have been closed while Police work to remove those who are at the tunnel protesting.
Motorists are asked to avoid SH1 from the airport and eastern suburbs into the city via the Mt Victoria Tunnel.
Alternative routes to the city are via Evans Bay or Newtown.
