Police can confirm that one person has died in the crash on the Kopu-Hikuai Road (SH 25A), near the Tairua River bridge.
The sole occupant of the vehicle, sadly died at the scene.
The road remains closed and motorists are asked to take alternate routes.
Diversions are expected to be in place at Kopu to the south and at State Highway 25 to the north.
