Emergency services are currently at the scene of a two-car crash on SH1, near the intersection with Pukenui Road, Sanson.
Police were called about 4.05pm.
Initial indications are there have been serious injuries.
The road is closed, with diversions in place.
Motorists should avoid the area, if possible.
