Heavy rain is also forecast for Wellington’s eastern hills and parts of the Wairarapa. A strong southerly swell is also on the cards, which could affect State Highway 2 between Petone and Ngauranga. There is also a possibility of snow falling on Remutaka Hill.

Road crews will be on standby to deal with any events that may arise.

Although not expected, If a heavy snowfall occurs or high winds pose a danger to road users, there is a possibility that State Highway 2, over Remutaka Hill, will be closed.

Drivers should plan ahead, and if they need to travel, drive to the conditions and take extra care.
