The homicide investigation following the death of a woman in Te Hapara yesterday continues today.

The woman’s body has been removed from the Centennial Crescent property and a post mortem is expected to be carried out today.

A forensic scene examination is ongoing at the house utilising specialist staff from the Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR).

“The local community will continue to see a high Police presence in the area with Tairāwhiti Police investigators supported by our Hawke’s Bay colleagues,” says Detective Inspector Dave de Lange.

“We know any traumatic incident like this is incredibly unsettling for the community and we want people to know they can make contact with us if they have any concerns or want to provide information that might assist.”

Anyone with information, including details about any vehicles in the vicinity of Centennial Crescent between midnight and 5am on Sunday 3 July, is asked to contact Police on 105 and quote file number 220703/2779.
