Police can confirm one person has died following a serious crash in Te Mapara, near Piopio overnight.
Emergency services were alerted to a vehicle submerged off Napinapi Road at around 7:40am.
A body was located inside the vehicle.
The Serious Crash Unit attended and enquires into the circumstances of the crash are continuing.
The removal of the vehicle has been completed.
