An expert consenting panel has granted resource consents, subject to conditions for a new housing development in Stanmore Bay, Whangaparāoa, Auckland.
The resource consents allow for the subdivision and development of a 1.826 hectare site at 20 Melia Place. Melia Place is an integrated residential development, made up of 59 dwellings and associated communal space, including a community building, recreation space and retention of the native bush reserve area and olive grove.
The Minister for the Environment referred this project to be decided by an expert consenting panel under the COVID-19 Recovery (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020.
The decision comes 88 working days after the application for resource consents was lodged with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
The EPA is not involved in the decision-making, but provides support for the panel convener, Judge Newhook, and the expert consenting panels he appoints.
