NorthTec has paused its required Covid-19 vaccination policy from this week, enabling unvaccinated visitors to return to its campuses and learning centres.

The NorthTec Board agreed to pause the policy, which was adopted on 17 January 2022, following the removal of My Vaccine Pass requirements for all tertiary education providers and the country’s recent move to the Orange setting of the Traffic Light System (Covid-19 Protection Framework).

This means that potential and existing ākonga (students), kaimahi (staff), and contractors and visitors to NorthTec sites will no longer need to show proof of vaccination status.

NorthTec will retain the policy but will no longer apply it, unless required to do so in the future due to a change in Government directives or further risk assessments.

In learning situations where a vaccine mandate continues to operate, for example, for nursing students on placement, the vaccination requirements of that workplace take precedence.
