Wing to graduate from the Royal New Zealand Police College on Friday

The new constables of Wing 352 are being attested on Friday and will graduate from the Police College in Porirua. Police Minister Poto Williams, Wing Patron Linda Clark, and Commissioner Andrew Coster will attend the ceremony.

The wing members will be posted to districts throughout New Zealand and will begin their district postings from 11 April.

This wing has achieved a couple of notable milestones.

The pathway into Police has been clear for two wing members, the first from the Police Pathway programme to graduate as police officers.

Police Pathway gives year 13 school students the opportunity to understand the role of police and gain insight into policing as a career, all while earning NCEA credits.

Currently delivered in 95 schools across the country in partnership with Police, the programme is really coming to fruition.

More students from the programme are actively engaged in the constabulary recruitment process, while there are a number who are currently working as employees within our Service Centres in File Management and Front Counter and also in our Recruitment teams and the Police Infringement Bureau.

Another milestone is a big one – this wing sees the 3,000th recruit to graduate since the Government first took office in October 2017 and committed to boosting Police’s frontline.

With the Government’s investment Police has been able to put more officers into New Zealand’s communities to prevent crime and harm. It has also given Police the opportunity to grow the diversity of the frontline.

Wing Patron Linda Clark has been a mentor to the wing. She is a highly-regarded lawyer and member of Police’s Assurance and Risk Committee, providing independent advice on strategic issues.
