Whanganui fire – nearby residents urged to stay indoors

Emergency services are responding to a fire at a commercial property on Holyoake St in Whanganui.
 
Police were alerted to the fire at 6.30am. 
 
The fire is under control but there is a large amount of smoke affecting the surrounding area.
 
Nearby residents are urged to stay indoors and keep windows and doors shut. 
 
Other members of the public are asked to avoid the area.
