Police are advising motorists that Thames Street is closed at the railway level crossing near the Itchen Street intersection, following a collision between a vehicle and a train shortly after 4pm.
One person is being attended to by Ambulance at the scene and the road is expected to be closed for some time.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and to expect delays.
