Police are appealing for information following an aggravated robbery in Maunu earlier this week.

At around 6.20 pm on Tuesday night, Whangarei Police were called to an aggravated robbery at a superette on Maunu Road.

Three people entered the superette and approached staff, one carrying what appeared to be a firearm.

The staff fled to cover as the offenders then began to steal cigarettes. Staff also managed to activate a fog cannon as the incident unfolded.

The offenders eventually decamped from the superette in a vehicle that was parked nearby.

Staff at the superette were uninjured but highly traumatised by the robbery.

The offenders were described as 3 male youths and they left the scene in a stolen 2003 Mazda Atenza coloured silver, which was dumped nearby in Hedley Place, Raumanga a short time later.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen this silver Mazda Atenza (pictured) in the Maunu area during the day of the robbery on Tuesday or anywhere between the Maunu Superette and Hedley Place after the robbery.

Anyone who may have information can phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or phone Police directly on 105, quoting file number 211130/3798.
