Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture
It’s more than just the cannons. In his biggest hit, Tchaikovsky employs the French and Russian anthems in a musical description of the Napoleonic Wars, but he ingeniously ensures that his battlefield storytelling still obeys the strict rules of musical form.
