Join Megan Walker (Historic Heritage Specialist at Auckland Council) as she explores a dialogue about two of New Zealand’s most eminent artists and the architects who created the spaces they inhabited.

Parallels are drawn between the two artists, Louise Henderson and Marti Friedlander, who both came to New Zealand from vibrant cultural societies.

Creating a life in their new world, they embarked on journeys that provided ways of successfully engaging with the landscape and the people of New Zealand.

Louise’s unique light-filled studio designed by James Hackshaw was instrumental in the evolution of her art, while Marti’s close relationship with Henry Kulka inspired the home he designed for her.

This event will be held in the Auckland Art Gallery Auditorium (Corner of Kitchener and Wellesley Streets) and online via Zoom.
