One person has died following a single vehicle crash on SH1, Turangi.
A car left the road and hit a tree at around 11pm last night.
The sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
The road was initially closed while the scene was examined and was re-opened shortly after 3am.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are continuing.
