State Highway 2 near Clarke Road in Minden, Western Bay of Plenty will be open within the next hour.
Police are responding to a serious crash in the area which happened at 2.30pm.
An earlier release incorrectly stated that a car and truck had collided.
Police can now confirm that a single car has crashed into a tree and its two occupants are in a serious condition.
