From 2018 funding onwards, we will discontinue performance-linked funding (PLF).

PLF was a formula-based approach intended to encourage Student Achievement Component (SAC) funded tertiary education organisations (TEOs) to reach an acceptable standard of educational performance.
Removing PLF takes away some of the complexity in the tertiary funding system, and supports a broader approach to assessing performance through students’ outcomes.
We will continue to use a range of levers to encourage better educational performance, and address poor performance.
