Police can now confirm the crash at the intersection of Riccarton Road and Hansons Lane, Upper Riccarton this morning was fatal.
Sadly the motorcyclist involved in the crash has died.
The intersection of Riccarton Road and Hansons Lane remains closed and traffic management is in place.
The crash, which involved a motorcyclist and a car, was reported to Police at 6.47am.
A police investigation into the cause of the crash is underway. The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene.
Police would like to thank motorists for their patience while the scene examination continues.
