People living in rural areas and small town in New Zealand face greater barriers accessing healthcare services than people in urban centres. The delivery of healthcare to rural communities and the recruitment of health professionals is also challenging. ASMS has produced a Research Brief which discusses models of healthcare and how rural communities can best be served.
