This page provides information on the Sector Reference Group (SRG) for the Performance-Based Research Fund (PBRF) 2025 Quality Evaluation.

The TEC is establishing an SRG to provide advice and recommendations to us on operational changes to the design of the 2025 Quality Evaluation.
The SRG’s recommendations will be developed as part of a public consultation process. Agreed recommendations will form the basis for the PBRF 2025 Quality Evaluation Guidelines.
The SRG process is expected to run from July 2021 to June 2023, when we will finalise updated Quality Evaluation Guidelines.
SRG Co-chair nominations
In preparation for the PBRF Quality Evaluation in 2025, the TEC is seeking expressions of interest for Co-chairs of the sector reference group (SRG).
Please send your expressions of interest by email to PBRF.Help@tec.govt.nz by 5pm on 12 May 2021.
The links below provide information about the role and the person specification.
We will carefully consider all the expressions of interest we receive. As part of this process, we may contact the people whose names have been put forward.
In order to ensure the right capability, skills, and experience, the TEC may extend the invitation to co-chair the SRG to other appropriate people as required.
SRG 2025 members
The members of the SRG and their organisations will be added here once they have been confirmed.
SRG 2025 consultations
Once convened, the SRG will consult with the sector and other stakeholders on a range of implementation issues as part of the development of operational guidelines for the 2025 Quality Evaluation.
The consultation papers, decision documents with the SRG’s recommendations to the TEC, and stakeholder feedback summaries will be made available here.
