Waikato Pathways College, which delivers foundation, university preparation and English language programmes for the University of Waikato, is being renamed.
The new name, University of Waikato College – Te Kura Huanui, signals the College is an integral part of the University, providing opportunities for both international and domestic students to progress to a wide range of degree programmes, and for the University to grow student numbers.
The contract to operate the College at the University of Waikato’s Hamilton campus is held by Study Group, a leading provider of international education with a global network of study centres.
Study Group Australia and New Zealand Managing Director Alex Chevrolle welcomes the name change as part of the strong collaborative partnership between Study Group and the University.
“Being named the University of Waikato College – Te Kura Huanui makes it clear students studying at the College experience seamless teaching and learning experiences throughout their journey to fulfil their academic potential at the University of Waikato.”
As well as offering international and domestic foundation and university preparation courses, the College has expanded its provision to include International Diplomas in Business and Computer Science, and a new Diploma in Postgraduate Preparation, a pre-Masters programme aimed at ensuring students have the skills and tools to succeed in postgraduate study.
University of Waikato Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alister Jones, says the College increases access to higher education for both domestic and international students, with foundation programmes mapped to the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate-level courses.
“The University of Waikato College – Te Kura Huanui is a valued part of the University and part of the cohesive educational ecosystem we provide students, empowering them to achieve higher qualifications and open doors to employment opportunities.”
