Hearings for Pūaotanga – the independent review into primary school staffing – in Christchurch and Wellington next week

Submissions will be heard next week at the first South Island hearings of Pūaotanga – the independent review into primary school staffing. 

On Wednesday, the hearing moves to Wellington.

The speakers will talk for 10 minutes each about their own experience and concerns over staffing and resourcing in primary schools. They represent a range of schools and roles including teachers, teacher aides, principals, parent groups, academics and special schools. 

Submissions will be heard by the review panel which is chaired by Steve Maharey and includes Whetū Cormick, Dr Cathy Wylie and Peter Verstappen. 

Christchurch 29 and 30 March

Paparoa Street School, 120 Paparoa Street, Papanui

9.30-10am: School welcome
10am-3.30pm: Submissions heard

Wellington 31 March

Newlands Intermediate School, Bracken Road, Newlands

10-10.15am: Mihi whakatau 
10.30am-2.30pm: Submissions heard
