Middle Leadership Advisory Committee – Call for nominations
The Middle Leadership advisory committee provides advice to the executive on matters affecting those in middle leadership positions in secondary and area schools. Middle leadership refers to curriculum leadership or pastoral care leadership: heads of department, deans, teachers-in-charge and guidance leaders.
Nominations are called for a position on PPTA’s Middle Leadership Advisory Committee in the following areas:
Area 1 Upper, Central and Lower Northland
Area 3 Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland – northern and eastern wards
Area 5 Waikato, Central Plateau
Area 7 East Coast, Hawke’s Bay
Area 11 Canterbury, Aoraki
The committee provides advice to the executive on matters affecting those in middle leadership positions in secondary and area schools. Middle leadership refers to curriculum leadership or pastoral care leadership: heads of department, deans, teachers-in-charge and guidance leaders.
The committee meets two times a year in Wellington. The term of office is the two years 2021 and 2022.
In your nomination please state what units you have, and what your responsibilities are in terms of leadership of others. We will use this information to structure a balanced committee.
Nominations for positions on the committee should include a signed nomination form and a candidate information sheet. The nominee, proposer and seconder must be PPTA members.

PPTA’s president and general secretary will decide on the appointments to the committee.
Senior Positions Advisory Committee – Call for nominations
Nominations are called for positions on PPTA’s Senior Positions Advisory Committee, which provides advice to the Executive on matters affecting those in senior management positions in secondary and area schools.
Those eligible for the committee are PPTA members who are senior managers with school-wide responsibilities regardless of units held. (This means staff in the roles of assistant, deputy or associate principal.)
Nominations are called for the following areas:
Area 1 Northland Upper, Central and Lower
Area 4 Counties-Manukau, Hauraki Coromandel
Area 6 Bay of Plenty, Western Bay of Plenty
Area 8 Taranaki, Manawatū-Whanganui
Area 9 Wellington, Hutt Valley, Wairarapa
Area 10 West Coast, Nelson, Marlborough
Area 12 Otago, Southland
The term of office is the two years 2021 and 2022. As well as working by email the Committee may meet in Wellington up to three times a year. PPTA pays all actual and reasonable costs including travel, leave without pay, accommodation if necessary and any childcare costs. The first meeting of 2021 will be held in March.

If more than one nomination for an area is received an election will be held. The personal statement will be distributed with voting papers.
