Entrepreneurial students are invited to attend one of our five national launch pad events, featuring some of the country’s top innovators and change makers.

AUCKLAND (21/09/2020) – Calling all students! As the winter is almost over, you will probably start switching your brain to all the things you’ll need for the new year. If you see yourself as a student entrepreneur or a tech innovator and want to create positive impact for your campus, and potentially the world, then Red Bull Basement 2020 can help you develop your ideas and bring them to life.

This year, we’re holding five unique launch pad events across the country aimed at inspiring the next generation of change makers. These special events will be centred around panels made up of some of the country’s leading entrepreneurs, innovators, and change makers.

The launch pads will be kicking off next Tuesday (29/09) in Wellington, featuring last year’s winner Magdeline Huang. Next up is Hamilton (01/10), with Shailan Patel (MYOB) and Jeremy Suisted (Creativate) locked in as panelists. Auckland (06/10) students will be treated to a panel made up of rising tech entrepreneurial star Ezel Kokcu and Nieshfounder Jae Yoo, before the next event taking place in Dunedin (08/10). The final launch pad will take place in Christchurch (09/10).

Those who attend the launch pads will gain an exclusive insight into New Zealand’s tech and entrepreneurial sector from the country’s finest minds. They will have the opportunity to learn how to refine their ideas and develop their pitching skills. There will also be the chance to enter ideas on the day.

Judges applaud participants after they finish their pitch at the 2019 Red Bull basement Global Final held in Toronto, Canada.

The eventual winners will receive a tailor-made package specifically designed to help bring their idea to life. They will also have the opportunity to participate in the Global Workshop and final, scheduled for 10-13 December.
