The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) is pleased to host its second of three free learning webinars with New Zealand and Australian experts in online teaching. 
These webinars support the range of resources and tools we gathered that may help tertiary education organisations deliver online teaching. The webinar topics are based on feedback from the sector.
How to support and engage tertiary learners in an online environment (with a focus on pastoral care)

At this 60-minute session subject matter experts Dr Cathy Stone (Conjoint A/Professor, University of Newcastle, Australia & Adjunct Fellow, NCSEHE, Curtin University) and Dr Teri McClelland (Head of Faculty, SIT2LRN) discuss:
best practices, supports and retention strategies for engaging tertiary learners in an online environment, and
how these can be applied in a New Zealand learning environment, across vocational and academic based qualifications.
Cathy will present on her experience with creation of the Australian National Guidelines for improving student outcomes in online learning. Teri will focus on the specific practices SIT2LRN has developed to ensure their distance learners (who hail from all over New Zealand and overseas) are engaged, supported and part of the Southern Institute of Technology’s (SIT) community.
You will have the opportunity to ask presenters questions in a facilitated question and answer session following the presentations.
