Human Rights – PSNA – If this were a Jewish boy, the international outrage would be plastered across the front page of every newspaper and leading every television bulletin around the world

Last week an unarmed Palestinian boy was murdered by the Israeli Defence Force and his body was dangled from and mangled by an Israeli bulldozer. The video is utterly horrifying.

Is it any wonder Israeli troops act like this when Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu says “the only way to treat Palestinians is to beat them up, not once but repeatedly beat them up, until it’s unbearable”.

Late last year Netanyahu described Palestinians involved in an Israeli government as an “existential threat to Israel” – a comment which mirrors what was said in Rwanda before the genocide, in Burma before the Rohingya massacres and in Germany before the Nazi atrocities.

If the word Palestinians were replaced by the word Jews in any of Netanyahu’s statements the world would rightly be outraged.

So why the silence when Palestinians are talked about and treated this way?

The silence is because journalists and media outlets are terrified of being called anti-semitic by the pro-Israeli “media police” who determine what is acceptable and what is not to be reported.

The simple, unreported fact is that the Israeli leadership is driven by race-hatred towards Palestinians. The current Israeli election is being decided on which party will be the most racist and the most brutal towards Palestinians.

The sheer unadulterated brutality (there is no nice way to put it) of the Israeli state has been a constant in Palestinian lives for 70 years.

Gutless, one-sided media reporting bears a large part of the blame.

(PR.co.nz)

Webscope, a recognized leader in the bespoke software design and development market, today announced the company’s complete rebranding as Transformative, in recognition of the company’s growth, evolution, and focus on client success. Webscope is now Transformative.

For nearly a decade, Webscope has delivered “business-changing ideas + technology” for clients of all stripes. The company has evolved as the market has matured over that period, shifting its work from the design and development of bespoke business systems, websites, and apps to now also include an enhanced set of additional offerings; digital business strategy, service and process improvement, and development of complete organisation-wide technology platforms – all with a focus on transforming clients’ business and technology to optimise their strategic vision.

This work is underpinned by a market-first digital transformation programme.

“Our digital transformation programme sets a new vision for your organisation, one that better harnesses technology and people to achieve your goals, and moves your business into its next phase of growth. We focus on making your processes more effective, your tools smarter, and your people more empowered to deliver the results you need,” says Katie Te Nahu Owen, co-founder of Transformative.

“The Digital Transformation Programme gives our clients access to the type of strategic thinking and leadership offered by a Chief Digital Officer, backed by a modern, agile development team to execute that vision on an annualised roadmap. This presents a depth of knowledge, capability and expertise far greater than a single CDO could provide. The resulting apps, websites, and integrations we create open new markets, reimagine business as usual, and create exceptional experiences for staff and customers,” says Phil Vinall, Head of Strategy at Transformative.

The rebrand is an opportunity to better communicate the positive impact Transformative creates for its clients. The new brand is a result of months of design, with a goal of presenting Transformative as a fresh, trustworthy, professional organisation – through a simple, modern, and well-thought brand image.

“Our evolution as a company has been based upon delivering successful futures for our clients. Over the years, the market has led us from a website and mobile development organisation to one delivering complete business systems and customer experiences. Our clients recognise our people-focused strategy and technology leadership, and our rebrand reflects our focus on ‘business-changing ideas + technology’, and our contribution to client outcomes. As Transformative, our name is what we do ,” says Tim Clark, co-founder of Transformative.

(PR.co.nz)

Music lovers are being urged to clear their diaries from this Sunday as the Bay Rains music festivals kick off in the Bay of Plenty.

This Sunday marks the beginning of a three-weekend series of top quality blues, rock and funk shows.

Bay Rains will raise funds for the Australian bush fire victims. The shows will be held across three different days at various venues in the Western Bay of Plenty area.

There are more than 30 bands coming from around New Zealand and Australia to perform. All ticket sales will be donated directly to the farmers, wildlife and rural fire brigades that need it.

“Bay Rains is a 100% non-profit project and everything we have raised so far has been donated. It is completely mind blowing how amazing EVERYONE involved has been, a true sense of community pulling together to help our brothers and sisters across the ditch. It’s absolutely mind blowing!” says event organiser Brooke Stinson.

The first performance will be held at The Barrel Room in Tauranga on Sunday March 1st and features acts such as LA Thompson, the Sweet Leaf Trio and Louie Campbell.

Louie Campbell has won many talent quests, this singer/songwriter is certainly one to keep an eye out for. This humble 17 year old star is destined for success.

Performance two is on Saturday March 7th at the Waihi Beach Hotel. Bands who will be playing include Rion Lydon, Electric Universe and Auckland’s The Dirty Tones, whose cutting edge modern blues have attracted international airplay.

The final gig is on Saturday March 14th at the Black Sheep Restaurant in Whakamaramara. Acts include Shabang, Brownie & Mutley and the Chalkie White Band. In 2018 Chalkie White took out the #1 spot on Australian Country radio five times running with singles off of his #1 ARIA winning country album.

Tickets are from $20 and are available online at Eventfinda or at the venues.

This is going to be a fantastic concert series supporting a deserving cause and is not to be missed!

The Stylish Man Signs With Reviewboost NZ

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

(PR.co.nz)

The Stylish Man, a group of men’s grooming salons in Auckland, is the latest savvy business to sign up with Reviewboost New Zealand.

Reviewboost is an automated system that helps businesses encourage client reviews on up to 100 major sites including TradeMe, Facebook and Google. This can help businesses attract customers, increase profit and improve their online profile.

The Stylish Man has two salons in the central Auckland area and they offer standard haircuts, beard trims and shaving services. They also accommodate any ideas their clients have to create styles to suit any taste. With a relaxed and upmarket atmosphere, comfortable furniture and internationally experienced stylists, they are rapidly gaining a reputation for excellence.

The Stylish Man has a good reputation, however they do not rank in the top three in their area on search engines, which is as far as most prospective customers look. They saw the value in getting more reviews to improve their services and online ranking and were excited by Reviewboost’s ability to deliver these results.

“I didn’t realise how essential reviews are to maintain a good online reputation. I selected Reviewboost because I see the value it has to increase my social media presence and Internet profile,” says The Stylish Man owner Bodie Zulbakri.

Bodie adds, “I also get a lot of walk in and first time customers so with the Reviewboost system, it will be easier to create and maintain a relationship with them and know what they think about my service.”

The Reviewboost system gathers comments from a number of platforms into one place for business owners and managers to find out what customers like and dislike about their service. They can then use this information to improve their services.

Quantum PAR Series LED Grow Lights – a World Favourite

0

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

(PR.co.nz

The all-new Quantum PAR series LED grow lights, also known as Quantum boards, are fast becoming the preferred option in the North American commercial and domestic market. Now, New Zealand growers are being given the opportunity to try them out for themselves.

Quantum PAR LED grow lights combine the most efficient LED diodes from Samsung – LM301B – with a powerful Meanwell XLG dimmable driver to create the crème de la crème of LED grow lights. This unique combination also allows for a far lower heat output than a standout grow light, with passive cooling taking the place of fans.

According to Herbal House spokesperson Matt Monk, the new LED grow lights are already proving themselves in a professional and home growing capacity.

“Their power consumption is just 400 watts, and when you compare that to its 1.2-metre flowering footprint, it’s a no brainer that you can grow more for less with the Quantum PAR series.

“We’re not surprised growers throughout the United States and Canada are making them their first choice. After all, with a light output of 2.6 μmol/J, it’s one of the most efficient lights on the market.”

The Quantum PAR series LED grow light packs a punch with its wide, low-profile panel design to create fewer shadows, while also offering more flexibility for those with roof height restrictions.

“Make no mistake, from the lower energy costs to the maximum canopy coverage and high-quality components, it doesn’t get much better than the Quantum PAR Series LED grow light,” Matt says.

If you would like to know more about the all-new Quantum PAR series, get in touch today. Email matt@herbals.co.nz, phone 0508 254 258, visit www.herbals.co.nz or visit the showroom at Waipareira Avenue in Henderson, Auckland.

Launch of new writing by Migrants

0

Source: Press Release Service – New Zealand

Helping others find the courage to write has been a long-time goal of Rotorua writer Angie Belcher. Now, with the support of Rotorua English Language Partners, Rotorua Civic Arts Trust, Rotorua Creative Communities and the Matatuhi Foundation, her dream of running a series of creative writing workshops for migrants has come to fruition.

The project, known at To Our Shores involved teaching and mentoring groups of migrants as they negotiated the process of telling and writing their stories in poetry and prose then having selections of the writing artistically interpreted before being published as a collection.

‘Giving voice to new New Zealanders gives them the opportunity to share their stories, hopes and dreams as well as helping us understand their needs’ says Belcher.’ It provides opportunities for us to gain cultural knowledge and to develop greater empathy towards each other’.

Brazilian born graphic artist Lucia Lemos Monteiro Conceicao, a workshop participant, has been busy artistically interpret the writing as a series of bold, colourful photographic prints which portray aspects of the writing and culture shared by the individual participants.

‘Reading the poetry and studying the country helps me connect with the writer,’ says Conceicao who has found Vanuatu the most challenging to date. ‘I had never heard of this country so had to learn so much. Now, I love it!”

Known in Brazil for her artistic designs portrayed on fabric, this will be her first exhibition in New Zealand since arriving in 2018 and the first using photographic prints.

The exhibition to be held at The Rotorua Arts Village from27 March to 18 April will coincides with the launch of Mixed- a Collection of Creative Writing by Newcomers To Our Shores being published by Stromboli Press.

The book, a collection of poems and stories illustrated with the art, are as diverse as the writers themselves. Ranging from war-torn Bosnia to the frenetic pace of life in Japan, all twenty five contributors delve into creative writing to express and share the anxieties, dreams and journeys that preceded their arrival to our shores.

It is hoped that those who get the opportunity to read the words, hear stories and appreciate the art will have a greater appreciation of the migrant’s struggles, separations and successes as they negotiate both a new land and new ways of expressing their feelings.

BowelScreening offers at home bowel screening tests for everyone

0

Source: Press Release Service – New Zealand

Cancer is never a comfortable topic to talk about, but it is one that statistically will affect the vast majority of New Zealanders in some form. Whether that being personally diagnosed, or know a family member, friend or loved one being affected by it. Even with this in consideration, discussions centred around cancers that we sometimes consider “embarrassing” or “taboo” often fall by the wayside. An example of one such cancer is colorectal cancer (CRC) – this being colon, or bowel cancer. But it is important that discussions on CRC are brought into the limelight as it has the second-highest cancer mortality rates in New Zealand, claiming the lives of approximately 1200 people per year, and 3500 people a year are diagnosed with CRC. These figures are equivalent to the combined rates of prostate and breast cancer deaths, propelling New Zealand to having some of the highest rates of CRC in the world.

One of the positives about CRC is that if detected early, the rate of successful treatment is high. Detection relies on a simple non-invasive screening. The New Zealand government has recognised this, and over the past couple of years has begun to roll out free bowel cancer screenings for individuals between the ages of 60-75 years old. While this is a step in the right direction, the rollout process has been slow. The nationwide rollout is expected to take 6 years, as it is adopted one region at a time.

Currently, free testing is available for these district health boards:

Waitemata DHB
Hutt Valley DHB
Wairarapa DHB
Counties Manukau DHB
Southern DHB
Nelson Marlborough DHB
Hawke’s Bay DHB
Lakes DHB
Whanganui
MidCentral.

It is projected that Auckland DHB will join this list late 2020, with the entire National Bowel Screening Pilot Programme being completed by June 2021

But what if you are not in these regions, don’t want to wait years, and are not in the 60-75 year-old age bracket? Bowel cancer doesn’t discriminate by region, and in regards to age, it does not only affect people over 60. While it is true that the risks increase in people over 60 (affecting about 1 in 100 people), younger individuals are still at risk:

The Highest risk is males, at 44 people out 100,000 per a year.
Females have a risk of 38 people out of 100,000 per a year.
1 in 1000 people between the ages of 35-40
2 in 1000 people 45 years old
3 in 1000 people 50 years old
5 in 1000 people 55 years old

Most countries that have free bowel screening programmes, such as Australia, offer it to people over the age of 50, whereas NZ is only targeting people over the age of 60. This leaves a significant gap in people that may need to be screened.

BowelScreening.co.nz looks to remedy this, by allowing everyone to proactively look after their health and not fall through the cracks in the system. No matter your age or where you live in NZ. This is achieved by offering a quick, free, simple online assessment to determine if you require a screening test to be sent to your home. The test is affordable and can be performed in the privacy of your own home. It involves taking a couple of samples of toilet water with the patented test card. This card is then mailed to a lab for processing, you will be notified of your results within 3 weeks, as well as if any further steps are needed to be taken.

All of this is done comfortably in the privacy of your own home, in your own time.

“There is no doubt that bowel screening saves lives. The earlier we can detect, the better the chance of successful treatment is” – Dr Alasdair Patrick, Head of Gastroenterology Department, Middlemore Hospital

So if you are worried about bowel cancer and may not have access to the facilities to put your mind at ease, perhaps it is time to take BowelScreening.co.nz’s bowel screening test.
