Adverse events learning programme now delivered online
16 Dec 2020 | Adverse Events
Since the development of the National Adverse Event Reporting Policy in 2012, the Health Quality & Safety Commission actively supports health and disability providers with their adverse event reporting systems.
The Commission provides education to the health and disability sector; attendees learn the essential components of a high-quality adverse event review and learn how to participate in an adverse event review as a member of the review team.
The COVID-19 pandemic challenged us to think about how we deliver learning programmes to make them more accessible. The adverse events learning review workshop is now delivered online.
The new structure consists of:
- a lunchtime virtual launch session to meet participants and set the scene
- eight online learning modules over four weeks
- a full-day live virtual learning review workshop using the learning review method.
We started delivering the programme online in September and we have had 116 participants complete the course since.
The workshops are relevant to all health sector staff who undertake reviews on adverse events and would like to understand the essential components of a high-quality review.
