Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

M Aerospace Limited, based in Auckland, New Zealand, announces an update regarding the development of its Alfred version 2 rocket and the planned second test flight.
The company has undertaken a significant change in its avionics system development. After encountering unforeseen challenges with the Udoo Key micro-computer board, M Aerospace has made the decision to transition to an Arduino-based system with an integrated nine-degree inertial measurement unit.
Alfred is a crucial research and development prototype and proof-of-concept step towards M Aerospace’s ultimate goal: interstellar travel. This test flight programme is designed to gather critical data and validate technologies necessary for future long-duration spaceflight.
Ongoing issues with data logging capabilities on the Udoo Key platform necessitated a reassessment of the system architecture. Data collection is not just a vital component of the testing process; it is a vital component of the flight itself, providing crucial information for analysis and future development.
“While the version 1 avionics performed as expected, the persistent issues with data logging on the Udoo Key platform forced us to re-evaluate our approach for version 2,” said Michael Hodgson, owner-director of M Aerospace. “In retrospect, the lack of official documentation and support for the Udoo Key suggests it was only ever an experimental platform. Our commitment to acquiring comprehensive flight data is paramount to the continued development and refinement of Alfred, and to our long-term goals. We believe this change to a well-documented and supported Arduino-based system will provide the stability and reliability we require for both development and operation.”
This change in avionics hardware may impact the previously announced launch date of 5 January 2025. M Aerospace is currently assessing the integration timeline for the new system and will provide a further update on the flight schedule as soon as possible.
M Aerospace remains committed to safety and thorough testing in all its operations. The company appreciates the continued support and understanding of its stakeholders as it works to achieve it’s mission of advancing aerospace technology and paving the way for interstellar travel.
About M Aerospace: M Aerospace is an Auckland-based aerospace start-up company dedicated to the development and testing of innovative rocket technology. The company’s flagship project, the Alfred rocket, is a vital research and development platform for testing and validating new technologies essential for future interstellar exploration.

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

Hiring expert Furniture Removals Auckland services can make all the difference in your moving journey. Professional movers have the expertise to handle everything from bulky sofas to delicate antiques. They understand the intricacies of Auckland’s traffic patterns and residential areas, ensuring that your belongings arrive safely and on time.

Choosing seasoned Auckland movers means you’re entrusting your possessions to people who prioritize care and efficiency. They come equipped with the necessary tools and packing materials, reducing the risk of damage during transit. Plus, their familiarity with the city allows them to navigate any obstacles that might arise, such as narrow streets or limited parking spaces.

Essential Tips for a Smooth Moving Experience

Start Planning Early
Initiating your moving plans well in advance is crucial. Begin by creating a timeline that outlines all the tasks you need to accomplish before moving day. This might include sorting through belongings, scheduling with movers, and notifying utilities of your change of address. Early planning reduces stress and helps ensure that no detail is overlooked.

Declutter Your Space

Moving is the perfect opportunity to assess what you truly need. Go through each room and decide which items you want to keep, donate, or discard. By decluttering, you minimize the volume of items to move, which can save time and reduce costs. It also makes setting up your new home much more straightforward.

Invest in Quality Packing Supplies

Protecting your belongings during the move is essential. Use sturdy boxes of various sizes, bubble wrap for fragile items, and strong packing tape. Don’t forget to secure valuable items with extra padding. Proper packing materials not only safeguard your possessions but also make loading and unloading more efficient.

Organize and Label Boxes

Clearly labeling each box with its contents and the room it belongs to will save you a lot of hassle when unpacking. Consider using a color-coded system or numbering each box and keeping an inventory list. This organization helps both you and the movers know exactly where everything should go in your new home.

Communicate with Your Moving Team

Maintain open lines of communication with your chosen Auckland movers. Provide them with all the necessary information, such as access points, parking availability, and any large or unusually heavy items. This transparency allows them to prepare adequately and ensures the moving process goes smoothly.

Timing Your Move Wisely

Auckland’s weather can be quite variable, so it’s wise to consider the season when scheduling your move. Aim for periods with milder weather conditions to avoid potential delays or complications. Additionally, booking your move during off-peak times, such as weekdays or outside of holiday seasons, might offer more flexibility and better rates.

Settling into Your New Auckland Home

Once you’ve arrived at your new residence, take the time to familiarize yourself with the neighborhood. Explore local cafes, parks, and shops to make the area feel like home. Remember, the physical move is just the beginning of your new adventure in Auckland.

Partner with the Best for a Hassle-Free Move

When it comes to moving, partnering with reliable professionals is key. They handle the heavy lifting, allowing you to focus on settling into your new environment. For top-notch service, consider reaching out to experts in Furniture Removals Auckland.

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

The ‘Ansum Pasty Co. is proud to announce the launch of its online store at ansum.nz, making handmade Cornish pasties accessible to customers across New Zealand. This exciting development follows overwhelming interest from British expats and Kiwis alike, many of whom discovered the hearty satisfaction of a proper pasty during their travels or served up by their grandparents.

“Customers choose us because they know a pasty will leave them satisfied, no questions asked,” says Adam Rickett, Head Crimper and Director at The ‘Ansum Pasty Co.

Adam’s journey to pasty perfection is rooted in his extensive culinary background. As the former Executive Chef at Euro Bar and Restaurant and Culpeper in Auckland, Adam has worked in some of New Zealand’s most renowned kitchens, including The Matterhorn, Pravda Café and Grill, and The Boatshed Boutique Hotel on Waiheke Island. Since moving to New Zealand in 2009, Adam’s dedication to fine food has earned him widespread respect within the industry.

The idea for The ‘Ansum Pasty Co. was born during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. “I wanted to deliver a taste of the past, and not just my past or the past of those from Cornwall, but everyone’s past.” Adam believes that anyone who tries an “‘Ansum” will find something familiar they can relate to. “The magic of the pasty is all in the pastry…It’s the smell. Even if you’ve never been to Cornwall, somehow a pasty really speaks to you and it creates an experience. Everyone should experience that.”

The online store, launched last week, offers nationwide delivery, allowing more New Zealanders to enjoy these handmade, traditional pasties. The response has already been overwhelming. “The interest we’ve seen has been incredibly encouraging,” says Jamie Armour, Business Development Manager for The ‘Ansum Pasty Co.

Jamie brings his own stellar credentials to the venture. A former chef who worked at L’Atelier Joel Robuchon (2 Michelin Star) in Paris, Jamie now serves as the IT Manager for Hell Pizza. Despite his busy schedule, Jamie dedicates his time to helping The ‘Ansum Pasty Co. grow. “Together, Adam and I have the right mix of skills to make this work. Pasties will be a thing in New Zealand!” Jamie says.

For Adam and Jamie, this isn’t just a business—it’s a passion project rooted in sharing a part of their heritage and craft.
Customers can order online now at ansum.nz or visit The ‘Ansum Pasty Co. every weekend at the Catalina Bay Farmers Market. Other Auckland market locations are listed on their website. Gift vouchers are also available, making them a perfect Christmas gift for family and friends.

Cornish pasties, a culinary staple in the UK and a favourite in Australia, have yet to enjoy the same recognition in New Zealand. Chef Adam Rickett, the former Executive Chef at Euro Bar and Restaurant and Culpeper in Auckland, wants to change that.

Known for his time in Cornwall mastering the art of the pasty, Adam questions why the dish hasn’t taken off in New Zealand. “The Cornish pasty made it to Australia along with the early settlers and became popular there, but for some reason, it never gained the same traction here,” he says.

Adam’s connection to the pasty runs deep, having trained as a young chef in St Austell, Cornwall, where pasties are part of daily life. “It’s not just food; it’s part of who I am. Every pasty is something comforting and people connect with the nostalgia it induces.”

In 2009, Adam relocated to New Zealand, quickly making a name for himself in fine dining. Adam worked as Head Chef at renowned restaurants The Matterhorn, Pravda Café and Grill and The Boatshed Boutique Hotel on Waiheke Island. Yet, despite his culinary success, he felt a persistent pull towards his roots. “No matter how far you go, some things never leave you. The pasty is one of those things. After years in New Zealand, I knew I wanted to bring that tradition here.”

In 2020, amidst the COVID-19 lockdown, Adam founded The ‘Ansum Pasty Co., driven by a desire to reconnect people with this timeless tradition. “I wanted to deliver a taste of the past, and not just my past, but everyone’s past. I’m convinced that the nostalgia of a pasty is all about the Pastry. It’s the smell. Even if you haven’t even left the country, a pasty offers something familiar that really speaks to you and creates an experience. Everyone should experience that.”

Today, The ‘Ansum Pasty Co. caters to both wholesale and retail markets in Auckland, with plans to launch online deliveries this November. Adam believes the time is right to introduce Kiwis to the pasty’s appeal. “New Zealanders love hearty and reliable food. The pasty is just that — simple, satisfying, and guaranteed to hit the spot. It’s bigger than a pie.”

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

Dr. Dermacare has today announced its official re-launch. Beauty lovers in New Zealand can now shop the new and improved line of derma rollers and more at the Dr. Dermacare website.

The upgraded line of derma rollers at Dr. Dermacare features surgical grade stainless steel needles, available in both .3mm and .5mm options, to ensure optimal skin penetration and better results. They are safe and gentle, featuring an elegant, ergonomic design for a spa-like experience at home. Dr. Dermacare derma rollers have been shown to reduce wrinkles, soften fine lines, improve skin texture, reduce scarring, and support collagen and elastin repair.

Dr. Dermacare was created by Emma Johnson, who holds a master’s degree in psychology and a certification in Reiki. Her focus is on psychodermatology, and through her company, Johnson helps people love their skin, feel happier, and get a confidence boost every time they practice their daily skincare routine.

Numerous studies have linked anxiety and depression with skin concerns. Scientific data shows that stress leads to higher levels of cortisol, which in turn leads to acne breakouts and a potentially advanced aging process. These are just a few examples of psychodermatology, which is the study of the link between emotional well-being and overall skin condition. This emerging science is at the core of Dr. Dermacare’s practices and products.

Johnson’s personal experience in psychodermatology began 20 years ago, when she suffered from acne and felt self-conscious about her skin. Not only did she find herself combating physical blemishes, but Johnson also struggled with the emotional aspect of her skin concerns. Johnson set out on a mission to nourish her skin and uplift her mindset towards her skin, which led her to the creation of Dr. Dermacare. Now, she helps people enjoy the effects that a healthy skincare routine can have on one’s mental health.

“You can’t completely treat the skin without focusing on the psychological side, as well. Science clearly shows a strong connection between psychology, stress, and physiology. Dr. Dermacare is here to help reduce the impacts of stress on the skin by giving people a healthy, gentle skincare routine that involves some of the best skincare products on the market today,” said Johnson.

Dr. Dermacare gives its customers the derma rollers they need to create a healthy daily skincare routine, enjoy healthy and glowing skin, and boost their mindset. The company also offers complementary skincare products for daily use including: Be Happy, a hyaluronic acid and prebiotic serum; Be Sassy, an ultrafine 100% vitamin C powder; and Be Vibrant, a 25% vitamin C and kakadu plum serum. Derma rollers for hair growth are also available.

The Dr. Dermacare lineup also includes self-care daily ritual packages, which include a derma roller, professional derma roller sanitizer spray, and skincare product. Free shipping is available on qualifying orders, with flexible payment options available upon checkout. Dr. Dermacare goes beyond the sale to offer a stress-free skincare guarantee that offers $50 towards self-care if a shopper isn’t satisfied with the results of their derma roller.

Shoppers can take the Perfect Match Quiz to find out which derma roller is perfect for them, and anyone who wants to learn more about psychodermatology can do so through the site’s Skincare School. Wholesale opportunities are available. More information is available now at https://www.dermaroller.co.nz

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

There’s no doubt by now that you’ve heard all about the future of the automotive industry – electric vehicle technology. But it’s all very well reading about it and seeing it on TV, and that doesn’t do it justice. To understand electric vehicle technology, you have to experience it – and the best way to do so is not in a showroom, but around your local streets. That’s exactly what the Clean Car Roadshow is all about, an opportunity to test drive Mitsubishi’s award-winning line-up of PHEVs, get the experts to answer your questions and have a great day, all from the comfort of your neighbourhood. The Clean Car Roadshow takes place on the 10th & 11th March from 10am-5pm at Orewa’s Main Surf Club Reserve – 275 Hibiscus Coast Highway, Orewa.

Mitsubishi Motors has a great reputation with Kiwis. They’re known for their range of vehicles, from sedans to SUVs, always making their presence known on “NZ’s best lists” year after year. The company’s success is not only attributed to its innovative technology and engineering – the ace up its sleeve is its “customer first” approach to sales and after-sales support. Mitsubishi Motors values its customers and listens to their feedback, which has earned the company respect and loyalty from the Kiwi market. As a global brand, they lean heavily on their local dealerships to establish community connections, recognising the importance of building lifelong customer relationships – especially with the introduction of new developments such as electric vehicle technology.

To connect with local communities, you need to be local. Simon Lucas Mitsubishi understands this – you just need to look at their impressive amount of 5-star reviews on Google to see that they do everything in their power to look after their community. But never content to just sit back and wait, Simon Lucas Mitsubishi is stepping out of their dealership and into the community with their announcement of their latest event in Orewa on the 10th and 11th of March – The Clean Car Roadshow.
You’re invited to the Clean Car Roadshow! – Presented By Simon Lucas Mitsubishi

Mark your calendars and get ready to experience the exciting future of electric vehicle technology. Taking place at Orewa’s Main Surf Club Reserve – 275 Hibiscus Coast Highway, Orewa, the Clean Car Roadshow is your chance to get behind the wheel of Mitsubishi’s award-winning PHEV range and learn more about this incredible technology that is completely revolutionising the automotive industry.

The Clean Car Roadshow takes place over two days, Friday 10th March & Saturday 11th March from 10am to 5pm.
Why is Simon Lucas Mitsubishi putting on the Clean Car Roadshow?
Over the past few years, there has been a serious uptick in the amount of press surrounding electric vehicle technology. Between headlines being dominated about the technology and the Government’s implementation of the Clean Car Discount programme, there’s no denying that this technology has moved from being a curious niche into being on the verge of mass adoption.

However, Simon Lucas Mitsubishi understands that electric vehicle technology is still new to some, captivating and even overwhelming for many people, after all, over the past 100 years the world has spent its time building out the infrastructure to support the widespread use of petrol-powered combustion vehicles. Electric vehicle technology is a major change to the automotive landscape, and Kiwis are still bound to have questions in their search to figure out if these vehicles live up to the hype.

Simon Lucas Mitsubishi believes that an informed customer is a happy customer – and community outreach is the best way of achieving this. They believe it is incredibly important to allow people to test these vehicles themselves, on their neighbourhood streets, while having access to a trustworthy expert to address any questions they may have. The Clean Car Roadshow aims to bring Mitsubishi’s award-winning PHEV range to your doorstep, making it as convenient as possible for you to try it yourself. It’s all part of Simon Lucas Mitsubishi’s ongoing commitment to stay connected with their community.

Test Drive the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) Models from Mitsubishi
Simon Lucas Mitsubishi will be bringing out the big guns for the Clean Car Roadshow – the critically acclaimed and award-winning Next Gen Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV. Since their release, both vehicles have made waves in the market for Mitsubishi’s state-of-the-art electric vehicle technology, their impressive full electric vehicle range, and premium safety features that come standard with all models. Mitsubishi has really set the bar for PHEVs with these releases, with the Next Gen Mitsubishi Outlander winning AA Driven’s Clean Car of the Year 2022.

But don’t just take our word for it – that’s exactly the point of the Roadshow. Simon Lucas Mitsubishi wants you to experience the performance and convenience of their PHEV range yourself. So come on down, take a test drive, and get all your questions answered!

Find Out the Magic Behind PHEV Technology
In addition to the opportunity to test drive the latest offerings from Mitsubishi’s lineup, a highlight of the event is sure to be Mike Manson’s “Intro to the PHEV technology”. Happening twice a day at 11am and 3pm, these talks will offer insight into the inner workings of Mitsubishi’s PHEV technology. Mike Manson is Simon Lucas Mitsubishi resident PHEV expert – not only are these talks sure to be informative but also entertaining, after all, Mike has earned himself a little following on Youtube for his Mitsubishi “walkthrough videos” (feel free to look them up!).

Free Trade-in Valuations and Financing Options
The Clean Car Roadshow is the perfect opportunity to get a free professional trade-in valuation of your current vehicle. Simon Lucas Mitsubishi will have finance experts on hand to offer advice and options for financing PHEV models – allowing you to make an informed decision before committing to anything.

If you’ve been thinking about dipping your toes into the PHEV market, Simon Lucas Mitsubishi is making sure you have all the experience and information necessary to make an informed decision.
A Chance to Win a “PHEV Weekend Away” (Valued at $2000)
When hearing about the impressive range Mitsubishi PHEVs have (The Next Gen Outlander PHEV has a full EV range of 84km and a combined range of 800km), you’ll often be told that they are perfect to go on an adventure.

Well, Simon Lucas Mitsubishi is offering you the chance to find out for yourself.

At the Clean Car Roadshow, you can enter the “PHEV Weekend Away” for free. The winner will receive a weekend away valued at $2000. This package includes two nights of accommodation, breakfast, and a PHEV demo to drive for the weekend.

Is there a better way to test drive a car than that?

Come Down to the Main Surf Club Reserve To Experience New Zealand’s Best Selling and Award Winning PHEVs
The Clean Car Roadshow is sure to be a fun and informative day for the Orewa community who are wanting to know more about PHEV technology. So mark the day in your diaries, swing by the Main Surf Club Reserve and see for yourself. Test drive the latest Mitsubishi range, listen to Mark Manson talk about the technology while sipping on a complimentary cup of coffee – all thanks to Simon Lucas Mitsubishi for taking the time to connect with the community.
Introduced in the late 1960s, cross lease arrangements allowed developers to circumvent strict subdivision regulations, saving them both time and money. However, the RMA 1991 and the Auckland Unitary Plan have effectively made cross leases obsolete. Despite this, Auckland property owners continue to face ongoing issues associated with cross-lease agreements. This leads many to convert their cross-lease to freehold titles.

Subdivision specialist Troy Patchett of Subdivide Simplified, has assisted numerous Auckland residents with property subdivision. He has noted a growing demand for cross-lease to freehold conversion services, particularly among those looking to put their property on the market.

“A freehold property is much more appealing to potential buyers, and with the market slowing down, sellers are eager to make their property as appealing as possible,” says Patchett. “Removing the limitation of a cross lease is an effective method to achieve this.”

In addition to being a more enticing prospect for buyers, sellers may also enjoy a 7-20% increase in property value when switching their property to fee simple.

In a cross-lease arrangement, all property owners have shared ownership of the land, and each individual leases both the land and dwelling from the other owners for a set term, usually 999 years. However, one drawback of cross-lease arrangements is that any modifications to the home necessitate the consent of all involved parties. Additionally, some cross-lease arrangements may contain additional provisions, such as animal ownership and restrictions around exterior decorating and gardens.

“Many people want full say over their land,” Patchett says. “Switching your property from a cross-lease to fee simple offers this.”

Subdivide Simplified helps Auckland residents navigate the often-challenging subdivision process. The company assembles all of the necessary documents and reports, surveys and makes an application to the Auckland council.

“The process can be overwhelming, and our clients appreciate having someone on their side who knows exactly what is required for a seamless subdivision process.”

Outdoor heating experts, Kelray Heating have extended the warranty on all heaters from 3 to 5 years. This will make Kelray Heaters have the longest, most comprehensive warranty for an outdoor heater in New Zealand.

This warranty extension demonstrates that the company believes in the durability of their outdoor heaters and has gone above and beyond industry averages to provide assurance to their customers. Kelray Heating, the sole New Zealand manufacturer of outdoor heaters, has always stood by the durability of their products as their key point of difference.

Clive Menkin, Kelray Heating Director, explains: “Durability is at the heart of everything we do—it was actually the very reason Kelray Heating was founded.”

Kelray heaters are constructed using marine-grade 316 stainless steel, a material that is significantly more resistant to corrosion in saline environments. This allows their products to withstand the harsh environments of coastal cities and towns across New Zealand.

Other outdoor heating products available in NZ are made from 304-grade stainless steel and anodized aluminium. These materials don’t fare well in NZ conditions, though, and can deteriorate and lose their lustre.

The warranty extension for Kelray Heaters is effective immediately, and it applies to new units purchased from this date forward.

Kelray Heating’s full range can be found on their website – https://www.kelrayheating.co.nz/

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

With a desire to help patients make informed decisions about their oral care, Clean Teeth Dental invested in an innovative and advanced intra-oral scanner. This digital device allows Dr. Marwan Wadea from Clean Teeth Dental to produce fast colourised images and provide a more interactive dental care experience.

According to Dr. Wadea, the intra-oral scanner will be used for every new patient exam, allowing patients to visualise their mouths easier than they could in photos.

“They will be able to see their teeth and bite in 3D. The 3D scan will make the experience more interactive and intuitive,” he says.

The device works by projecting a light source from the scanner onto the scanned object, such as a tooth or full dental arches. Scanning software then processes a 3D model, which is displayed in real-time on a screen for dental professionals and patients to see.

All new patients at Clean Teeth Dental will experience this technology for themselves during their comprehensive one-hour teeth examination. The exam includes two intra-oral x-rays, a clinical exam, a consultation, and treatment planning.

Dr. Wadea says that new patient exams are already comprehensive, but the intra-oral scanner allows patients to visualise their teeth, gums, and bite in colour, and receive potential solutions for any problems.

“Digital dentistry is the future for dentistry.”

About Clean Teeth Dental
Clean Teeth Dental is a specialised dental clinic in North Shore, Auckland, providing cosmetic and high-end restorative dentistry services.

Source: Press Release Service – Auckland

Amidst challenging times, Chinese sculpture artist Yi Yang has overcome the demands of a post covid world and brings his latest exhibition of sculpture works to The Cloud over Matariki weekend. ‘We Are One’ is an awe-inspiring collection of over forty sculptures and paintings constructed of stainless steel and resin and inspired by Aotearoa New Zealand’s culture, mountains, rivers, and glaciers. Each sculpture stands at 40-50cm high and illustrates the resilience, strength, and determination of all New Zealanders as one, with simple lines and complex textures.

Yang, who is of Chinese descent, grew up surrounded by used car parts and scrap metal while his parents worked their jobs in China’s automotive industry. After digressing away from his original dream to become a well-accomplished oil painter, Yang turned to sculpture and, in 2014, famously depicted actor and film director Jackie Chan in a work named ‘Drunkie Chan’. The sculpture was inspired by the movie Drunkie Master and, like many of Yang’s other sculptures, is constructed from recycled vehicle parts. Chan is one of the most recognisable and influential film personalities globally, and Yang is honoured that he and his family were to fly to New Zealand for the grand opening of ‘We Are One’, however current Covid-19 restrictions in Shanghai are preventing them from attending. Chan has crafted a tribute to be aired on the night.

Inspiration for ‘We Are One’ was drawn from the passion Yang developed for the land, people, and culture of Aotearoa over the eleven years he’s lived here. The Maori people, in particular, with their traditional strong stature and protruding tongues, as well as the All Blacks rugby team and the Haka, are unmistakable influences on the exhibition.

Having previously experimented with mud, the finished sculptures are constructed of resin and stainless steel. The resin symbolises the purity of Aotearoa, and the stainless steel reflects the viewer, creating an instant connection with the work and symbolising strength and resilience.

The exhibition is expected to draw wide interest from the art and rugby worlds — notably the attendance of Alan Gibbs, owner of Gibbs Farm in the Kaipara Harbour. Gibbs was depicted in ‘Marshall Alan’ a magnificent four-meter high sculpture by Yang created as a tribute to Gibbs’ lifetime achievements in the wild west. Sir Richard Taylor is also pegged to attend, a longtime supporter and collector of Yang.
A number of All Blacks, both past and present, are also expected to attend the grand opening.

‘We Are One’ is a truly captivating collection of works that includes one unique design to be unveiled at the grand opening. This particular design depicts a phalanx of seven arrowheads.

They symbolise young lives nurtured by Aotearoa New Zealand, and hold a strong formation with an indisputable resonation with viewers. ‘We Are One’ is dedicated to Aotearoa and its people

Born in 1967 behind the iron curtain, Volykhine spent the duration of his youth at a time when Socialist realism was the predominant aesthetic. His enigmatic compositions however employ a personal iconography of human characters, animals, and hybrids within familiar-looking but imaginary settings. They frequently incorporate references to the creative process, music, and everyday life, but ultimately eschew any fixed meaning.

The artist’s treatment of scale is deliberately arbitrary and non-perspectival, and often seems to allude to different time zones or planes of existence.

This exhibition brings together large and small format paintings in which figures are depicted against backdrops of suburban architecture or imagined interiors. While Volykhine develops each work instinctively without a preconceived idea of the finished result, there is visual coherence to the overall group of paintings on view, both in their similar palettes of strong, complementary colors as well as in recurring subjects.

The multiple storylines that characterize the large-scale works in particular, combined with their striking use of light and emphasis on the human figure and sometimes dreamlike interpretation, leave a lasting impression. Defying any traditional sense of realism while retaining a degree of plausibility, these paintings create their own distinctive stamp on
figurative art.

Volykhine’s work is held in both private and coporate collections worldwide and most recently features in the new QT Hotel Rooftop Bar in Auckland Viaduct, the new EBB Hotel in Dunedin, and in the NZ 2021 Home of the Year.
