Police have today been making further enquiries as part of an ongoing homicide investigation in Dargaville earlier this month.
Operation Trailside was launched on 7 October after the body of Garry Hazelton was found at his home on Hoeroa Street, Dargaville.
Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Pilmer, of Whangārei CIB, says Police have been making a number of enquiries in recent days, which lead them back to Mr Hazelton’s home today.
“We would like to reassure the public that we are following positive lines of enquiry and not to be alarmed at our presence in the area.
“Our team is working tirelessly to piece together the events leading up to the death.”
Detective Senior Sergeant Pilmer says Police have spoken with several people but are continuing to ask anyone who has any information to come forward.
“Our focus is on providing answers to Mr Hazelton’s whānau and friends and holding the person responsible to account.”
Police have previously appealed for sightings of a small silver hatchback, described as similar to an early 2000s Nissan March, which was seen in the area prior to the 64-year-olds death.
We continue to seek information on the vehicle’s movements between 5pm on Monday 5 October until 5pm on Wednesday 7 October.
Anyone with information that can assist Police enquiries is urged to contact 105 using the file number 261007/7751.
Information can also be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
ENDS.
