Jo Dow was sworn in as Porirua City Council’s newest councillor on Thursday.
Cr Dow won the city’s by-election on 16 October. It was held following the death of Cr Mike Duncan in June.
During the meeting of Council on Thursday, Cr Dow, from Titahi Bay, took her declaration of office with Mayor Anita Baker.
Cr Dow is a second-generation councillor, her mother Sue having served six terms around the Council table. In the run-up to the by-election, Cr Dow said she was interested in connecting with her local Onepoto Ward community and a priority for her was ensuring Porirua had a strong voice in the amalgamation process.
