Workers at Hamilton’s Braemar Hospital will strike for a cost-of-living pay increase next Tuesday, 27 October.
Tōpūtanga Tapuhi Kaitiaki o Aotearoa NZNO members working at Braemar will walk off the job for four-hours, starting at 8am. They will also carry out a day-long overtime ban.
This action follows almost a year of negotiations over pay increases below the cost of living and pay rates lower than public hospitals. The striking workers include nurses, healthcare assistants, anaesthetic technicians and sterile science technicians.
Members deliberately chose the day after Labour Day, when fewer patients are scheduled, to minimise disruption to patient care.
Media are invited to attend the picket. There will be interview and photograph opportunities.
When:
8am-midday, Tuesday 27 October
