Police have tracked down two people who will front court today after an aggravated robbery in Stanmore Bay overnight.
Three teenagers were walking along Brightside Road just after midnight when they were confronted by two people who allegedly made threats towards them.
Acting Detective Inspector Megan Goldie, Waitematā CIB, says the group assaulted one of the victims before making demands for personal items, including clothing they were wearing.
“The pair have also taken the victims’ mobile phones before fleeing the area.
“However, Police have used a tracking system on one of the phones, which led back to an address on Elliston Crescent.”
Acting Detective Inspector Goldie says the Police Dog Unit was deployed and located two people inside the property who were quickly taken into custody.
“A subsequent search of the address also located the stolen property.
“This successful outcome highlights the importance of timely information being provided to Police.
“We’re committed to holding those responsible to account and we will use every avenue available to us to do just that.”
Two males, aged 21 and 18, will appear in North Shore District Court today charged with aggravated robbery.
