An investigation has been launched following the deaths of three people in Papatoetoe last night.
Detective Inspector Karen Bright, Counties Manukau CIB, says Police were called to Cambridge Terrace at around 6.40pm after reports a person was found deceased at the address.
“Upon arrival Police have located this person, as well as two additional people within the home who were also pronounced deceased.
“While our investigation is in the early stages, we are not currently looking for anyone else in connection to what has occurred.”
Police do not believe there is any risk to the wider public.
“We are waiting for the completion of the scene examination, which will help us piece together the circumstances that led to this tragic event,” Detective Inspector Bright says.
“Police recognise events like this hit at the hearts of our communities, and we are doing everything we can to answer the many questions around this devastating incident.”
While the investigation is ongoing, Police are providing wrap-around support to the whanāu of the deceased and neighbours.
“Residents can expect to see an increased Police presence in the area while the investigation continues,” Detective Inspector Bright says.
Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
