A man has been arrested in the ongoing Blockhouse Bay homicide investigation.
Operation Falconer commenced last month, after 21-year-old Star Sami was critically wounded on 22 August and later died from his injuries.
Simultaneous search warrants were executed in Avondale and Massey this morning.
Acting Detective Inspector Craig Bolton, of Auckland City CIB, says a man was arrested at the address in Massey without incident.
“A 23-year-old man was brought back to the Mount Roskill Police Station for interview, and he has since been charged with murder,” he says.
It is expected this man will appear in the Auckland District Court this afternoon.
“While we are not seeking anyone else in relation to Mr Sami’s death, this is still an ongoing investigation and we are still speaking with a large number of witnesses to the violent altercation that occurred that Saturday afternoon,” Acting Detective Inspector Bolton says.
Police acknowledge those that have provided information to date.
“The Operation Falconer team has been working hard on progressing the homicide investigation over the past month, and it’s a great outcome to have got to the point in laying a murder charge.”
