A Place to Grow Old: Securing the future of aged care is a report by the independent Aged Care Ministerial Advisory Group.
The group was established by the Government in late 2025 to provide expert advice on the changes needed to ensure New Zealand’s aged care system is sustainable and effective into the future.
The report examines the growing pressures on the current system, proposes structural reforms, and outlines options for creating a sustainable funding model.
The report has four main sections:
- Part one – Ageing well in place
- Part two – Recommended reform
- Part three – Changing the funding model
- Part four – The critical path ahead
It includes 40 recommendations across a range of areas, including integration of services, regulatory settings, funding changes, and implementation. The report will help inform future policy and funding decisions by the Government.
