What is an FEP and an FEP Audit?
An FEP is an adaptable tool to help you identify, manage and mitigate environmental risk associated with water, soil and nutrients on your farm.
Audits are an independent assessment of how well these environmental risks are being managed. Auditors also check that what is being recorded in your plan is being put into practice on farm to achieve targeted outcomes.

Scheduling your Audit
If your resource consent requires you to have an FEP, we will contact you to advise:
- your new Audit due date
- any changes to the FEP Auditing process
- how to prepare for your FEP Audit.
Once you receive your new Audit date, please contact a certified auditor straight away to book the Audit from our list of approved Environment Canterbury auditors.
After your first Audit, subsequent dates will depend on your Audit grade, with higher grades meaning less frequent Audits.
