Police are advising motorists to exercise caution in the Takapuna area after reports diesel has been spilt on the road.
Officers are attending areas along Lake Road after reports several motorbikes, bicycle riders and cars have slid on the road due to the substance.
The diesel has potentially been tracked from Esmonde Road down to Devonport.
Emergency services will remain in the area while the situation is dealt with.
Police are asking motorists to take care, expect delays and avoid the area if possible.
