Over the past 2 weekends on State Highway 1 (SH1) near Cambridge, helicopters truly had the power, pulling transmission wires across SH1 as part of work on the National Grid. This meant the road had to be closed to keep everyone safe. It was a strange sight, seeing a normally very busy SH1 without any traffic.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) thanks drivers, residents and businesses for their patience while this crucial National Grid work took place.
If you’re heading away these school holidays, or just getting from A to B, plan ahead and check where the disruptive works are going to be. People are encouraged to use the NZTA Journey Planner.
