Wellington drivers are asked to plan ahead for a closure of the Mount Victoria Tunnel tomorrow night (Tuesday 17 September).
A closure is needed to repair the tunnel’s fire control sprinkler system.
To complete the work, contractors must access the tunnel’s roof from the road.
The tunnel will be closed to all traffic between 9pm and 5am, but it may reopen earlier if work is completed ahead of schedule.
Drivers travelling between the Wellington CBD and Miramar/Kilbirnie must use alternative routes via local roads and should allow extra time for their journeys.
NZTA/Waka Kotahi thank the public for their patience and understanding while this critical maintenance work is completed.
