Road crews will replace a large sign on State Highway 2 at Haywards Interchange early next week, requiring a northbound offramp closure.

Gantry to be replaced, SH2 Haywards offramp.

A full closure  is needed so crews can work from a scissor lift on the offramp to complete the sign replacement.

The work is planned for Monday night (5–6 August), between midnight and  3:30am Tuesday morning (weather permitting). However, a further closure may be needed on Tuesday night (6–7 August) at the same time if the replacement isn’t completed on Monday night.

Completing the works at night is less disruptive as fewer vehicles are on the road.

A signposted detour will be available for drivers needing to access State Highway 58 to Hebden Crescent, Pāuatahanui, or Manor Park.

They should detour via Silverstream, turnaround at Fergusson Drive/Eastern Hutt Road roundabout, return onto State Highway 2 southbound and exit at Haywards southbound offramp to get back to the Haywards Interchange.

Recommended detour route.

The detour will require extra travel time, so drivers should allow more time for their journeys.

NZTA/Waka Kotahi and the Wellington Transport Alliance thank drivers for their patience and understanding while this critical maintenance work is completed.
