Resident groups across Tāmaki Makaurau continue to support communities impacted by the 2023 weather events, by providing information, connection and support.

There are groups across the region that have stepped up to support recovery in their communities, and the majority of those involved are giving their time voluntarily. These volunteers make an incredible contribution in recovery by supporting others and connecting communities at a time where social cohesion is critical.

Research shows that communities that are more connected are more likely to adapt and recover quicker from a disaster. Resident groups with strong existing relationships and community networks have been able to support their communities by sharing information and demystifying processes, as well as linking in with relevant agencies and advocating on key issues.

If you would like to connect with other impacted residents in your area and participate in one of the resident recovery groups across Auckland, the table below provides contact details of groups with shared mailboxes.

If you would like help finding a group near you and your area is not included, or if you are involved in a resident group and would like your group listed here, please get in touch with Leanne Roche (leanne.roche@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz) if a group does not exist in your area, our team can also provide advice and support on creating a group.
