Critical guard rail repairs will be carried out on State Highway 1 Weld Pass next week.

Guardrails are essential safety infrastructure and critical for keeping the public safe. Therefore, it is critical that these repairs be carried out as quickly as possible.

The repairs will be undertaken on State Highway 1 Weld Pass on Wednesday, 19 June, between 7:30 pm and 8 pm. Please expect delays of up to 15 minutes during this time.

Every possible effort is being made to complete the repairs swiftly, ensuring disruption for drivers is kept to an absolute minimum. These delays have been strategically timed to align with Picton ferry schedules and when traffic volumes are typically lower.

While the work is being completed, traffic will be stopped on State Highway 1 on either side of Weld Pass.

Drivers are encouraged to plan their travel time to avoid this work if possible.

NZTA/Waka Kotahi thanks the public for their patience and cooperation while this vital state highway maintenance is completed.
