NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is reminding drivers of ongoing overnight road asphalting work on State Highway 35 in Gisborne.

Transport Rebuild East Coast (TREC) alliance crews have now completed Stage 1 of the works between Stanley Road and Grey Street roundabout and Stage 2 between Wainui Road and Matthews Road.

Final Stage – SH35 Customhouse St between The Cut and Childers Road roundabout – Tuesday 4 June to Thursday 6 June – 7pm to 5am, weather dependant.

An overnight road closure will be in place from 7pm to 5am with detours planned for cars and other light vehicles.

Heavy vehicles and HPMVs heading to the port should use the approved detour via SH2 Makaraka, Back Ormond Road, Ormond Road and The Esplanade.

All detours will be signposted.

NZTA is reminding road users to factor these overnight closures into their journey time and be prepared to follow the signposted detours.
